Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on Monday 20th May 2019.
Minutes
of the meeting of the Parish Council, held on Monday 20th May 2019 in
the Village Hall, following the Annual Parish Meeting.
The meeting commenced at 8.30 pm.
1. Present: Cllrs Marion Dethier, Brian Gale, Simon Howes (Chairman), Patricia Lennard, Katrina Maxwell and Rodney Young.
Also present: Cllrs David Hall (Somerset County Council (SCC)) and Anthony Betty (Sedgemoor District Council (SDC)).
In attendance: The Clerk (Chris Fry) and 7 members of the public.
Apologies: None.
2. Minutes of the previous meeting of 15th April 2019 were taken as read, approved and signed.
3. Matters arising from the minutes.
5. Sedgemoor District Council report. See Annual Parish Meeting minutes.
6. Planning. No new Planning Applications but:
There will be a special planning meeting on Tuesday 28th May 2019 in the village hall at 7.30 pm to discuss further;
Application Reference: 18/19/00001/DT
Proposal: Erection of two detached dormer bungalows at Glebe House, Front Street, Chedzoy, Bridgwater in the light of substantial alterations made to the former proposal.
The notification of this was received this very day [20/05/2019] and too late for inclusion on the agenda of tonight’s meeting.

Balances after allowing for all payments made:
Six cheques were signed as follows:
The Clerk explained to the members the order of actions needed to sign off the 2017/2018 Cheque No 646 for £771.92 payable to Came and Co (Renewal of Ecclesiastical Insurance).
The first tranche of the 2019/2020 Precept of £3748.00 has been received.
Simon Howes has raised the need for the insurance cover to be examined to ensure we are not “doubling up” on any aspects. The Clerk was asked to take this forward. In view of the fact that the cover needs to be renewed by 1st June, we are continuing for the coming year while the review takes place.
Internal Audit report. The Clerk read the report from the internal auditor which confirmed all was in order save for a minor typing error in the minutes of the meeting of 4th April 2018.
When the Statutory Notice of public scrutiny of the accounts is advertised, then the procedures ahead of the External audit will be complete.
10. Any Other Business including the date of the next meeting. None.
Date of next meeting - Monday 17th June 2019 in the Village Hall at 7.30 pm.
There being no other business the meeting was declared closed at 9.10 pm.

- 'Councillor Essentials' seminar. Simon Howes and Marion Dethier reported on this and said they found the seminar very interesting and useful.
