Minutes of the special planning meeting of the Parish Council held on Monday 27th January 2020 in the Village Hall, at 7.30pm.

The Chairman opened the meeting at 8.23pm, following a short unavoidable delay.

1. Apologies: Cllrs Pat Lennard, John Paige and Rodney Young.

Present: Cllrs Marion Dethier, Brian Gale, Nick Griffiths and Simon Howes (Chairman).

Also present: The Clerk (Chris Fry).

2. Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (As Amended).

Application no: 18/19/00007/DT.

Applicant: Mr Horrobin.

Location: 3 West End Court, Chedzoy Lane, Chedzoy, Bridgwater TA7 8QS.

Proposal: Continued use of site as a nursery with ancillary retail activity, to include revision of months of retail trading to permit all year round (twelve months) operation, and increased hours of opening (8.00am to 6.00pm).

A discussion took place with the general feeling being that local enterprise such as this is something to be welcomed and encouraged, with the associated employment opportunities it can bring. Traditional business activities need to be nurtured.

The Chairman called for a vote, the result of which was unanimously in favour of the application.

The Chairman closed the meeting at 8.40 pm.

The following comments were submitted to the SDC planning department.

'The Parish Council of Chedzoy supports this application and feels the expansion of local business activities is something which should always be encouraged, with the accompanying increased employment opportunities it can bring'.
